Description

These Air Fryer Cinnamon Twists are a delightful treat that’s quick and easy to make. With a light and fluffy dough coated in a sweet cinnamon sugar mixture, they are perfect for a snack or dessert.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Dough:

  • 1 1/4 cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons baking powder
  • 1/4 teaspoon salt
  • 2 tablespoons granulated sugar (or sweetener of choice)
  • 3/4 cup plain Greek yogurt
  • 1 tablespoon vanilla extract

Cinnamon Sugar Coating:

  • 3 tablespoons butter, melted
  • 1/4 cup granulated sugar
  • 2 1/2 teaspoons ground cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Make the dough: In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, and sugar. Add the Greek yogurt and vanilla extract, and stir until a soft dough forms. You may need to use your hands to bring the dough together.
  2. Knead the dough: Turn the dough out onto a lightly floured surface and knead for a few minutes until smooth. Be careful not to over-knead.
  3. Shape the twists: Divide the dough into 8-10 equal pieces. Roll each piece into a long rope about 12 inches long.
  4. Make the cinnamon sugar: In a shallow bowl, combine the melted butter, sugar, and cinnamon.
  5. Prep the air fryer: Preheat your air fryer to 375°F (190°C). Lightly spray the air fryer basket with non-stick cooking spray or line it with parchment paper.
  6. Cook the twists: Working in batches, carefully place the twists in the air fryer basket, leaving space between them for good air circulation. Air fry for 5-7 minutes, or until golden brown.
  7. Coating the twists: While the twists are still hot, brush them with melted butter and immediately toss them in the cinnamon sugar mixture to coat evenly.
  8. Serve: Serve the air fryer cinnamon twists warm, on their own, or with your favorite dipping sauce, like cream cheese frosting or icing.

Notes

  • For a richer flavor, you can add a pinch of nutmeg or allspice to the cinnamon sugar mixture.
  • These twists are best enjoyed fresh but can be stored in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 days.
