Description

Bang Bang Salmon Bites are crispy, flavorful salmon pieces coated with a bold, creamy bang bang sauce made from mayo, sriracha, and Thai chili sauce. Perfect as a quick appetizer or a light meal, these bites are air-fried to perfection, delivering a deliciously spicy and tangy kick with tender salmon inside.

Ingredients

Scale

Salmon:

  • 1 lb salmon, skin removed
  • 1 tsp sesame oil
  • ½ tsp garlic powder
  • ½ tsp onion powder
  • ½ tsp smoked paprika
  • ¼ tsp cayenne pepper
  • ⅛ tsp salt
  • Pinch of pepper

Bang Bang Sauce:

  • ½ cup Kewpie mayo
  • 3 tbsp Thai chili sauce
  • 1½ tbsp sriracha
  • 1 tbsp honey
  • 1 tsp rice vinegar

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Salmon: Cut the salmon into bite-sized pieces. Place them in a bowl and add the sesame oil, garlic powder, onion powder, smoked paprika, cayenne pepper, salt, and pepper. Toss well until each piece is evenly coated with the seasoning.
  2. Preheat the Air Fryer: Set your air fryer to 400°F (204°C). Once preheated, lightly spray the air fryer basket with cooking spray to prevent sticking.
  3. Air Fry the Salmon Bites: Arrange the salmon bites in a single layer in the air fryer basket, avoiding overcrowding to ensure even cooking. Air fry for 8-10 minutes, shaking the basket halfway through to promote crispness. The salmon should be cooked through with crispy edges.
  4. Make the Bang Bang Sauce: While the salmon cooks, whisk together the Kewpie mayo, Thai chili sauce, sriracha, honey, and rice vinegar in a bowl until smooth and well combined.
  5. Serve: Once the salmon bites are done, transfer to a serving dish, drizzle generously with the bang bang sauce, and garnish with chopped green onions and sesame seeds if desired. Serve immediately with your favorite sides and enjoy!

Notes

  • Adjust the amount of sriracha to control the heat level, using less for milder flavor or more for extra spice.
  • If rice vinegar isn’t available, substitute with apple cider vinegar or mirin for a similar tang.
  • Ensure not to overcrowd the air fryer basket for the crispiest results.
  • Using Kewpie mayo adds an authentic creamy taste, but regular mayo can be substituted.
