Ingredients
Scale
Blackberry Puree
- 6 oz blackberries
- 1 1/2 oz brandy
- 1/2 oz lemon juice
- 1/4 tsp black food coloring
Thyme Simple Syrup
- 5 sprigs fresh thyme
- 1/2 cup sugar
- 1/2 cup water
Cocktail
- 4 oz Absolut Elyx vodka
- 3 oz blackberry puree
- 1 oz thyme simple syrup
- Ice
- Crushed dry ice (for garnish and smoky effect)
Instructions
- Make Thyme Simple Syrup: Combine thyme sprigs, sugar, and water in a small saucepan over medium-high heat. Bring to a boil while stirring to dissolve the sugar completely. Remove from heat, cover the saucepan, and allow the thyme to steep for 30 minutes. Then remove the thyme sprigs and let the syrup cool completely before use.
- Prepare Blackberry Puree: In a blender or food processor, combine blackberries, brandy, lemon juice, and black food coloring. Puree the mixture until smooth. Transfer to the refrigerator to chill until ready to use in the cocktail.
- Mix the Cocktail: Fill a cocktail shaker with ice. Add Absolut Elyx vodka, blackberry puree, and thyme simple syrup. Shake well until the mixture is chilled and well combined.
- Strain and Serve: Strain the cocktail mixture into chilled martini glasses.
- Add Dry Ice for Effect: Carefully top each glass with a small spoonful of crushed dry ice for a dramatic smoky effect. Exercise caution when handling dry ice, and wait until the visible smoke subsides before drinking. Remove any dry ice chunks that remain at the bottom of the glass before consuming.
Notes
- Handle dry ice with care and never ingest it directly.
- Allow the dry ice to dissipate its smoke and cool the glass before drinking.
- Remove any leftover dry ice pieces from the glass before drinking.
- Black food coloring is optional but adds a striking visual effect.
- Use fresh thyme sprigs for the best flavor in the simple syrup.
