Description

Creamy Beef and Shells is a delicious and comforting pasta dish made with tender pasta shells, seasoned ground beef, a creamy tomato sauce, and melted cheddar cheese. It’s a hearty meal that the whole family will love.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Pasta:

  • 8 ounces medium pasta shells

Beef Mixture:

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 1 pound ground beef
  • 1/2 medium onion, diced
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • 1 teaspoon paprika
  • 1/2 teaspoon mustard powder
  • 2 tablespoons all-purpose flour
  • 2 cups beef stock
  • 15 ounce can tomato sauce
  • 3/4 cup heavy cream
  • 6 ounces extra sharp cheddar cheese, shredded
  • Salt and pepper to taste

Instructions

  1. Cook Pasta: In a large pot of boiling salted water, cook pasta according to package instructions. Drain well.
  2. Sear Beef: Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat. Add ground beef and cook until browned, about 3 to 5 minutes. Drain excess fat and set aside.
  3. Sauté Onion: Add diced onion to the skillet and cook until translucent, about 2 to 3 minutes.
  4. Season: Stir in garlic, Italian seasoning, paprika, and mustard powder. Cook for about 1 minute.
  5. Add Flour: Whisk in flour until lightly browned, approximately 1 minute.
  6. Combine Sauce: Gradually whisk in beef stock and tomato sauce. Bring to a boil, then reduce heat and simmer until slightly thickened, about 6 to 8 minutes.
  7. Finish Dish: Stir in cooked pasta, beef, and heavy cream. Heat through. Add shredded cheddar cheese and stir until melted. Season with salt and pepper.
  8. Serve: Serve warm and enjoy!

Notes

  • Shred your cheese from the block for better melting.
  • Batch-cook ground beef ahead for convenience.
  • Test pasta for al dente by tasting a minute before package instructions suggest.
