French Toast
- 1 loaf of bread (Brioche or French recommended)
- 8 large eggs
- 1 1/2 cups milk
- 2 tsp cinnamon
- 1 tbsp vanilla extract
- 1/4 cup granulated sugar
- 1/2 tbsp orange juice (optional)
Brown Sugar Cinnamon Topping
- 4 tbsp unsalted butter, melted
- 2 tbsp light brown sugar
- 1 tbsp granulated sugar
- 1 tsp cinnamon
- 1/8 tsp salt
Optional Toppings
- Maple Syrup
- Powdered Sugar
Instructions
- Prepare the French Toast Mixture: Cut or tear bread into cubes, whisk eggs, milk, sugar, vanilla, cinnamon, and orange juice. Combine with bread cubes.
- Refrigerate: Transfer mixture to a baking dish, refrigerate for at least 2 hours.
- Preheat Oven: Preheat to 375°F.
- Make Topping: Whisk melted butter, sugars, cinnamon, and salt.
- Top and Bake: Spoon topping over casserole, bake for 35-45 minutes until golden brown.
- Cool and Serve: Cool for 10 minutes, then serve with optional toppings.
Notes
- To store – store leftover French toast casserole covered in the refrigerator for up to 5 days.
- To freeze – prepare casserole in a freezer safe container and freeze for up to 3 months. Bake from frozen at 350°F for 30 minutes after thawing overnight in the refrigerator.
