These Easy Cheesy Breadsticks are a delicious and simple snack or side dish that’s perfect for sharing. With a soft, garlicky dough topped with a generous amount of melted mozzarella and Parmesan cheese, these breadsticks are sure to be a hit at any gathering.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Dough:

  • 1 cup warm water
  • 2 teaspoons instant or active dry yeast
  • 1 teaspoon sugar
  • 1 teaspoon salt
  • 2 to 2 1/4 cups all-purpose or bread flour
  • 2 tablespoons melted butter or olive oil

Toppings:

  • 1 tablespoon garlic herb seasoning
  • 1 1/2 to 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat the oven to 425 degrees F and place a baking stone on a rack in the lower third of the oven.
  2. Mix the dough: In a large bowl, combine warm water, yeast, and sugar. Let sit until foamy. Add salt and flour, mix until a shaggy ball forms.
  3. Knead the dough: Knead the dough in the bowl, then let it rise for 15-20 minutes.
  4. Prepare the pan: Grease a half sheet pan with nonstick spray or butter.
  5. Shape the dough: Stretch and press the dough into a rectangle on the sheet pan.
  6. Add toppings: Brush with melted butter, sprinkle with garlic herb seasoning, then top with cheeses.
  7. Bake: Bake for 15-17 minutes until golden and bubbly.
  8. Serve: Cut into strips and enjoy!

Notes

  • Garlic Herb Seasoning: If you don’t have store bought seasoning, you can make your own blend with salt, basil, oregano, garlic powder, and thyme.
  • Proofing the Yeast: While not necessary, proofing the yeast gives the dough a head start in rising.
