- ½ teaspoon kosher salt, plus more to taste
Instructions
- Prepare Avocados: Cut the avocados in half and remove the pit with a sharp knife. Scoop out the fruit using a spoon and transfer it into a medium mixing bowl.
- Mash Avocados: Mash the avocados using a fork, a potato masher, or a molcajete until it reaches your desired consistency.
- Mix Ingredients: Stir in the chopped cilantro, diced tomato (if using), finely diced onion, lime juice, diced jalapeño, and kosher salt.
- Adjust Seasoning: Taste the guacamole and adjust the salt and lime juice as needed to achieve the desired flavor.
Notes
- Use ripe avocados: ripe ones are slightly soft to the touch but not too mushy. Removing the little brown stem can help check ripeness; green underneath indicates ripe, brown indicates overripe.
- Tomato is optional based on personal preference; some prefer guacamole with or without it.
- Use white or yellow onion for best flavor.
