Ingredients
Scale
Red Candy Clay Scarves
- 12 ounces red candy melts
- ¼ cup corn syrup
Fruit Roll Scarves (Alternative)
- 6 fruit rolls
White Chocolate Snowmen
- 12 ounces white candy melts, melted
- 96 pretzel rings
- 240 mini chocolate chips
- 48 orange candy coated sunflower seeds
- black food coloring marker
Instructions
- Make Red Candy Clay Scarves: Heat red candy melts in a microwave-safe bowl, microwaving in two 30-second increments and stirring after each. Heat an additional 30 seconds, then let the bowl rest in the microwave for 2-3 minutes. Remove and stir vigorously until melted. Cool while stirring often to 91°F, then stir in corn syrup until combined. Pour mixture onto plastic wrap, wrap tightly, and set aside to firm for several hours. Once firm, knead candy clay until pliable, roll thin, and cut into ⅜ inch by 7-inch strips.
- Prepare Fruit Roll Scarves (Alternative): If not using candy clay, cut fruit rolls into ⅜ inch by 7-inch strips to serve as scarves for the snowmen.
- Assemble White Chocolate Pretzel Snowmen: Pour melted white candy melts into a disposable pastry bag or zip-top bag. Snip off the tip to create a small opening. Pipe a small mound of white candy onto the center of each candy clay or fruit roll strip (scarf).
- Attach Pretzels: Place two pretzel rings touching one another on top of the white candy. Pipe a small amount of white candy between the pretzels to ‘glue’ them together, then fill the centers of both pretzels with white candy melts.
- Decorate Faces and Buttons: For the top pretzel (the head), press two mini chocolate chips as eyes and one orange candy coated sunflower seed for the nose. For the bottom pretzel (the body), add three mini chocolate chips for buttons.
- Add Scarf: Pipe a bit more white candy between the two pretzels, then overlap the ends of the candy clay or fruit roll strip around them to form the snowman’s scarf.
- Set the Snowmen: Freeze the assembled snowmen for 3-5 minutes to harden the white candy melts.
- Final Touch: Remove from freezer and let sit at room temperature for 5 minutes. Use a black food coloring marker to draw a smile with 5-7 small dots on the top pretzel’s face.
Notes
- Store assembled snowman pretzels in an airtight container at room temperature for up to 2 weeks.
- Ensure the white candy coating isn’t too hot when inserting chocolate chips to prevent melting.
