Ingredients for Lobster Mac and Cheese:
- 8 ounces lobster meat, cooked and chopped
- 16 ounces cavatappi, penne, or medium pasta
- 1/3 cup salted butter
- 1/3 cup all-purpose flour
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1/2 teaspoon dry mustard powder
- 1/2 teaspoon salt, or to taste
- 1/4 teaspoon Old Bay Seasoning
- 1/4 teaspoon black pepper, or to taste
- 2 3/4 cups milk
- 1/2 cup half and half or light cream
- 2 cups shredded sharp cheddar cheese
- 1 1/4 cups shredded Gruyere or Swiss cheese
- 1/2 cup shredded Parmesan cheese
Ingredients for Topping:
- 1/2 cup seasoned bread crumbs
- 2 tablespoons melted butter
- 2 tablespoons grated Parmesan cheese
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh parsley or 1/2 teaspoon dried parsley
Instructions
- Preheat oven to 400°F and grease a 9×13 pan. Combine topping ingredients in a bowl and set aside.
- Cook pasta al dente, drain, and set aside. Melt butter in a saucepan over medium heat, stir in flour and seasonings.
- Add milk and cream gradually to the flour mixture, whisking constantly. Bring to a boil, then simmer until thickened.
- Remove from heat, stir in cheeses until melted. Combine sauce with pasta, add half of the lobster, and spread into pan.
- Top with remaining lobster and sprinkle with topping mixture. Bake for 20-25 minutes until bubbly and golden.
Notes
- This recipe uses cooked lobster meat; tails or whole lobster can be used.
- Substitute other seafood like crab, shrimp, scallops, or salmon.
