Description

This Halloween Ghost Cheeseball is a fun and festive appetizer perfect for spooky gatherings. Cream cheese mixed with cheddar, beef, green onions, and garlic powder creates a flavorful base, shaped into a ghost, and covered with mozzarella. Black olive pieces form the ghost’s eyes and crooked smile, surrounded by assorted crackers and chips for a delightful party snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Cheeseball Mixture

  • 2 (8 oz.) packages of Cream Cheese
  • 1 cup Mild Shredded Cheddar
  • 2 (2 oz.) packages Buddig Beef, chopped
  • 2 bundles Chopped Green Onions
  • 1 teaspoon Garlic Powder

Coating and Decoration

  • 1 cup Finely Shredded Mozzarella
  • 2 Black Olives (for eyes and mouth)

To Serve

  • Assorted Crackers and Chips
  • Serving Tray
  • Food Gloves (for mixing and shaping)
  • Mixing Bowl

Instructions

  1. Combine Ingredients: In a large mixing bowl, add the cream cheese, chopped green onions, chopped Buddig beef, shredded cheddar, and garlic powder.
  2. Mix and Knead: Put on food gloves to keep hands clean. Knead all the ingredients together thoroughly until very well combined into a uniform mixture.
  3. Shape the Ghost: Form the mixture into a ball, then place it on your serving dish. Flatten it to about an inch and a half thickness and shape it into a ghost figure with a rounded top and three humps at the bottom.
  4. Coat with Mozzarella: Cover the ghost-shaped cheeseball evenly with shredded mozzarella, packing it down to adhere well. Clean up any excess cheese around the edges and wipe the serving dish clean.
  5. Add Facial Features: Slice one black olive in half to create two eyes and slice another olive lengthwise to form a crooked smile for the ghost’s face. Place these on the cheeseball accordingly.
  6. Serve: Surround the decorated cheeseball with assorted crackers and chips on the serving tray. Serve immediately and enjoy this adorable Halloween treat.

Notes

  • Wearing food gloves makes kneading and shaping easier and cleaner.
  • The ghost shape can be customized to your preference; try adding arms or different facial expressions.
  • Use mild or sharp cheddar depending on your taste preference.
  • For a vegetarian version, substitute Buddig beef with finely chopped mushrooms or roasted vegetables.
  • This cheeseball is best served fresh but can be refrigerated for up to 24 hours covered with plastic wrap.
