Description

This homemade Easter candy recipe is a delightful treat made with honey roasted peanuts, vanilla candy coating, and colorful M&Ms. Perfect for celebrations, it’s a simple crockpot recipe that will quickly become a family favorite.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Nuts and Candy Coating

    • 34.5 ounces honey roasted dry roasted peanuts (Planters recommended)
    • 48 ounces vanilla-flavored candy coating (Almond Bark or CandiQuik)

Decorations

  • 11.4 ounces Holiday M&Ms, divided
  • Seasonal sprinkles (optional, such as jimmies and nonpareils)

Instructions

  1. Layering in Crockpot: Layer peanuts and then vanilla candy coating into a 5-quart crockpot. Cover with a lid and cook on Low for 1 hour without lifting the lid.
  2. First Stirring & Continue Cooking: After 1 hour, remove the lid and stir the mixture thoroughly. Cover again and continue to cook, stirring every 15-20 minutes, for another hour (a total of 2 hours).
  3. Prepare Cooling Surface: Meanwhile, line 3 cookie sheets with Silpat mats or line a countertop or table with a long piece of parchment paper for cooling the candy.
  4. Turning off Crockpot & Preparing Add-Ins: Turn off the crockpot. Reserve 1/2 cup of M&Ms for later. Pour the remaining M&Ms into the crockpot and gently fold them into the mixture.
  5. Portioning the Candy Clusters: Working quickly, use a 1-tablespoon scooper to portion out candy from the crockpot and onto parchment or Silpat. Ensure the candy clusters are not touching.
  6. Decorating the Candy: Once the entire cookie sheet is full, and before the candy dries, top each candy cluster with an M&M and sprinkles for decoration.
  7. Cooling the Candy: Allow the candy to cool completely before serving or packaging.

Notes

  • Use a 5-quart crockpot for even cooking.
  • Reserve a portion of M&Ms for decorating the tops of the clusters.
  • You can use different sprinkles to match the occasion or theme.
  • Ensure the candy clusters are not touching during cooling to maintain their shape.
