Description

A refreshing homemade vanilla iced coffee featuring a smooth vanilla simple syrup paired with cold brew coffee, creamy oat milk, and optional French vanilla creamer. Perfect for a sweet, flavorful caffeine boost on a warm day.

Ingredients

Scale

Vanilla Simple Syrup

  • 1 cup granulated cane sugar (100g)
  • 1 cup water
  • 1 vanilla bean pod, split in half (or 1 tbsp vanilla bean paste or 1 tbsp pure vanilla extract)

Vanilla Iced Coffee

  • ½-1 cup cold brew coffee, adjust to taste
  • 1-2 tbsp vanilla simple syrup, homemade or store-bought
  • 2-3 handfuls of ice cubes
  • 1-3 tbsp NutPods Unsweetened French Vanilla Coffee Creamer, to taste (or cream of choice)
  • 2-4 tbsp oat milk, or milk of choice

Instructions

  1. Make the Vanilla Simple Syrup: In a small pot, combine the sugar, water, and split vanilla bean pod (if using). Bring to a simmer over medium-low heat, stirring continuously until the sugar dissolves completely.
  2. Simmer the Syrup: Continue cooking the mixture for 5-10 minutes, stirring occasionally. The syrup will be thin when hot; this is normal.
  3. Add Vanilla Flavoring and Cool: Remove the pot from heat. If using vanilla bean paste or vanilla extract instead of the vanilla pod, stir it in now. Allow the syrup to cool for 5-10 minutes, then pour into a heatproof airtight container. If using the vanilla bean pod, leave it in the jar to continue infusing flavor.
  4. Store the Syrup: Let the syrup cool completely at room temperature before refrigerating. Store in the fridge for up to two weeks, preventing sugar crystallization.
  5. Prepare the Iced Coffee: In a serving glass, combine cold brew coffee with 1-2 tablespoons of the vanilla simple syrup, adjusting sweetness to taste.
  6. Add Ice and Creamer: Add 2-3 handfuls of ice cubes. Pour in 1-3 tablespoons of NutPods Unsweetened French Vanilla Coffee Creamer (or your preferred creamer) and 2-4 tablespoons oat milk or milk of choice.
  7. Stir and Serve: Mix the ingredients well, taste, and add more syrup if desired. Enjoy immediately for the best flavor.

Notes

  • Using the vanilla bean pod in the syrup jar allows the flavor to intensify over time.
  • NutPods Unsweetened French Vanilla Creamer enhances the vanilla flavor but can be substituted with any creamer.
  • Adjust the amount of cold brew and syrup to suit your preferred coffee strength and sweetness.
  • Syrup should be stored in a sealed container in the refrigerator and consumed within two weeks.
  • Oat milk or other dairy-free milks provide a creamy texture with fewer dairy concerns.
