Delicious, tender Instant Pot ribs that are perfectly seasoned and finished with a flavorful BBQ sauce for a smoky, satisfying main course.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Dry Rub:

    • 2 tbsp Kosher Salt
    • 2 tbsp Brown Sugar
    • 1 tsp Black Pepper
    • 1 tsp Garlic Powder
    • 1 tsp Onion Powder
    • 1 tsp Chili Powder
    • 1 tsp Crushed Red Pepper

Main Ingredients:

  • 1 rack Baby Back Ribs
  • 12 oz can Coke
  • 1/4 tsp Liquid Smoke
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce

Instructions

  1. Prepare the Dry Rub: In a small bowl, combine kosher salt, brown sugar, black pepper, garlic powder, onion powder, chili powder, and crushed red pepper. Mix well to create a dry rub and set aside.
  2. Prepare the Ribs: Remove the membrane from the back side of the ribs by loosening it at one end with a knife. Use a paper towel to grip and pull off the membrane completely.
  3. Season the Ribs: Generously apply the prepared dry rub to both sides of the ribs, ensuring even coverage for maximum flavor.
  4. Set Up the Instant Pot: Place the ribs in a ring formation inside the Instant Pot. Pour the Coke and liquid smoke into the center of the pot, ensuring the liquid is evenly distributed.
  5. Pressure Cook the Ribs: Close and seal the Instant Pot lid. Pressure cook on manual high for 30 minutes with no warming, and allow the pressure to release naturally after cooking.
  6. Preheat the Oven: While the pressure is releasing, preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C).
  7. Finish the Ribs: Transfer the cooked ribs to a broiler pan. Generously brush both sides of the ribs with your favorite BBQ sauce.
  8. Bake the Ribs: Bake in the preheated oven for 10–15 minutes, keeping an eye on the ribs to ensure the sauce caramelizes without burning.

Notes

  • To ensure tender ribs, remember to remove the membrane from the back of the ribs before applying the rub.
  • For smokier flavor, you can adjust the amount of liquid smoke used in the recipe.
  • Consider using a meat thermometer to ensure ribs reach optimal doneness before serving.
  • You can experiment with different flavored BBQ sauces to customize the taste.
