Description

Patriotic Popcorn Cake is a fun and festive no-bake dessert, combining popcorn, marshmallows, peanuts, and red, white, and blue M&M’s. Perfect for summer parties and Fourth of July celebrations.

Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients

    • 3 quarts popped popcorn (plain)
    • 3/4 cup butter
    • 16 ounces mini marshmallows (one bag)
    • 8 ounces roasted unsalted peanuts
    • 16 ounces red, white, and blue M&M’s

Optional

  • 1/4 cup white chocolate chips (for drizzling over the top)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the popcorn and peanuts: In a bowl, mix together the popped popcorn and peanuts. Set aside.
  2. Butter the bundt pan: Generously butter a bundt pan to prevent sticking.
  3. Melt marshmallows and butter: In a saucepan over low heat, melt the marshmallows and butter, stirring constantly until fully combined. Remove from heat once melted.
  4. Combine with popcorn mixture: Pour the melted marshmallow-butter mixture over the popcorn and peanuts. Mix well until evenly coated. Add the M&M’s and gently mix until combined. Work quickly before the mixture sets.
  5. Press into bundt pan: Butter your hands to prevent sticking, then press the mixture firmly into the prepared bundt pan.
  6. Cool the cake: Allow the cake to cool for about 5 minutes in the bundt pan, then turn it out onto a wire rack to finish cooling completely.
  7. Add white chocolate drizzle (optional): Melt white chocolate chips or melting wafers in the microwave in 15-second intervals, stirring until smooth. Drizzle the melted chocolate over the cooled cake.
  8. Store and rest: Store the cake in an airtight container or wrap it in plastic wrap. Let it rest for at least 4 hours, up to overnight, before cutting into pieces. Store at room temperature.
