Ingredients
Scale
Pecan Pie
- 1 1/2 large prepared pecan pies from the bakery section of the market
Cream Cheese Whipped Mixture
- 8 oz. block of Philadelphia Cream Cheese, at room temperature
- 1 1/2 cups heavy cream
- 1/2 cup powdered sugar
- 1 1/2 teaspoons vanilla extract
Toppings
- 3/4 cup dark chocolate chips
- 1/2 cup pecan pieces, toasted
Instructions
- Prepare the whipped mixture: In a heavy duty mixer fitted with a wire whip attachment, combine the room temperature cream cheese, heavy cream, powdered sugar, and vanilla extract. Whip together on medium-high speed until the mixture is smooth and holds soft peaks, about 2 to 3 minutes.
- Cut and layer pie pieces: Cut the prepared pecan pies into 1-inch cubes. Place half of these pie cubes evenly in the bottom of a large trifle dish.
- Add chocolate and pecans: Sprinkle half of the dark chocolate chips and toasted pecan pieces evenly on top of the first layer of pie cubes.
- Layer the whipped mixture: Spoon and spread half of the cream cheese whipped mixture over the chocolate, pecans, and pie layer, covering completely and evenly.
- Repeat layering: Add the remaining pie cubes as the next layer, followed by the rest of the cream cheese whipped mixture spread evenly on top.
- Top with remaining toppings: Garnish the top layer with the remaining chocolate chips and toasted pecan pieces for added texture and visual appeal.
- Chill: Cover the trifle dish with plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 8 hours or overnight to allow the layers to meld and set properly before serving.
Notes
- Using store-bought pecan pies saves time and simplifies preparation.
- To toast pecan pieces, lightly toast them in a dry skillet over medium heat for 3-5 minutes until fragrant.
- Ensure cream cheese is at room temperature for smoother whipping.
- This dessert keeps well in the refrigerator for up to 3 days, but topping textures may soften over time.
- For variation, substitute dark chocolate chips with white chocolate or butterscotch chips.
