Bread:
- 4 thick slices hearty bread (or 1 (12–14 ounce) loaf ciabatta)
Pizza Sauce:
- 1/2 cup pizza sauce (or marinara)
Cheese and Meat:
- 4 ounces fresh mozzarella cheese, thinly sliced
- 3–4 ounces pepperoni slices
Additional:
- Olive oil spray
Instructions
- Preheat the Grill: Preheat a panini press, George Forman grill, or grill pan over medium heat.
- Prepare Bread: Slice the bread thickly or scoop out some of the ciabatta. Spread pizza sauce on cut sides. Layer mozzarella and pepperoni on the bottom half, then place the top half on.
- Grill: Spray the bread crust with olive oil. Grill the sandwich for 3-4 minutes per side until toasted and cheese is melted.
- Serve: Let it cool briefly, then slice and serve.
Notes
- Use sturdy bread like ciabatta to prevent sogginess.
- Don’t overfill the sandwich.
- Enhance flavor by brushing the outside with garlic butter mixed with oregano, red pepper flakes, garlic powder, and Parmesan cheese.
