Description

This Pull-Apart Cheesy Garlic Christmas Tree Bread is a festive and fun appetizer perfect for holiday gatherings. Made with jumbo biscuit dough filled with mozzarella cheese, shaped into a Christmas tree, and brushed with garlic butter and Italian seasoning, this easy-to-make bread is golden, cheesy, and flavorful. Serve it warm with marinara or pesto sauce for dipping, making it a delightful centerpiece for any celebration.

Ingredients

Scale

Dough & Cheese

  • 16 oz can jumbo biscuits, each biscuit cut into fourths
  • 7-8 mozzarella cheese sticks, cut into 31 pieces

Garlic Butter & Seasoning

  • 4 tbsp salted butter
  • 3 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1 1/2 teaspoons Italian seasoning

Egg Wash & Garnish

  • 1 large egg, beaten
  • Optional: grated parmesan cheese for garnish

Instructions

  1. Preheat Oven and Prepare Pan: Preheat your oven to 400°F (200°C) and line a large baking sheet with parchment paper to prevent sticking and ease cleaning.
  2. Prepare Dough and Cheese Portions: Cut each biscuit into fourths to have a total of 32 pieces, but only use 31 pieces. Cut the mozzarella cheese sticks into 31 equal pieces.
  3. Assemble Cheese-Filled Dough Balls: Place a small piece of mozzarella cheese onto each dough square. Seal the edges carefully by pinching and rolling the dough into a smooth ball to fully encase the cheese.
  4. Shape Christmas Tree: Arrange the cheese-filled dough balls on the lined baking sheet in a Christmas tree shape with seams facing downward. Ensure the balls are slightly touching so they will bake together. Brush the shaped dough with the beaten egg to give a golden finish.
  5. Bake: Bake in the preheated oven for 15-17 minutes or until the dough balls are golden brown. Watch closely to avoid over-browning; if needed, cover with foil toward the end of baking.
  6. Prepare Garlic Butter: While the bread bakes, melt the butter in a small pan or microwave. Add the minced garlic and Italian seasoning and mix well.
  7. Brush Garlic Butter & Garnish: Once the bread is baked, brush the garlic butter mixture generously over the rolls. Optionally sprinkle with grated Parmesan cheese for extra flavor and a festive touch.
  8. Serve: Serve immediately warm with sides of marinara or pesto sauce for dipping. Ideal for sharing at holiday parties!

Notes

  • Making In Advance: You can assemble the unbaked Christmas tree on a baking sheet, cover it, and refrigerate it for a day before baking.
  • Serving Tips: Serve the bread with pesto and marinara sauces. Providing toothpicks makes it easier for guests to pick individual cheese balls.
  • Storage Tips: Store any leftover bread in an airtight container in the refrigerator for up to 5 days. Reheat in the microwave or air fryer for best results.
  • Extra Garlic Butter: Save leftover garlic butter in a lidded container for use with baked potatoes, garlic bread, or other dishes.
