Ground Turkey Skillet:
- 1 lb ground turkey
- 1 tbsp olive oil
- 1 green bell pepper, diced
- 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
- 1/2 red onion, diced
- 3-4 tbsp tomato paste
- 3/4-1 cup tomato sauce
- 2 garlic cloves, minced (or 3/4 tsp garlic powder)
- 1 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
- 1/2-1 tsp dried oregano (Italian seasoning as alternative)
- 1/4-1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
- 1/2 tsp cracked pepper
- 1/2 tsp sea salt
- 1 - 1 1/2 cups cooked rice
- Shredded cheese for topping (optional)
Instructions
- Heat Olive Oil: Over medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Add onions and peppers, cook until softened.
- Cook Vegetables: Add garlic, cook for 1 minute. Push veggies aside, add ground turkey, and brown until cooked through.
- Combine Ingredients: Turn heat to low. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, red pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
- Add Rice: If using, stir in rice and adjust with more tomato sauce as needed. Adjust seasoning to taste.
- Serve: Garnish with parsley and shredded cheese, if desired.
Notes
- Storage: Store in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Freeze for up to 3 months.
- Substitute Meat: Ground beef or chicken can be used.
- Skillet Size: Use a 10-12 inch skillet for best results.
