Description

This Simple Ground Turkey Pepper Skillet is a wholesome and flavorful one-pan meal that is quick and easy to make. Perfect for a busy weeknight dinner.


Ingredients

Ground Turkey Skillet:

  • 1 lb ground turkey
  • 1 tbsp olive oil
  • 1 green bell pepper, diced
  • 1 yellow bell pepper, diced
  • 1/2 red onion, diced
  • 3-4 tbsp tomato paste
  • 3/4-1 cup tomato sauce
  • 2 garlic cloves, minced (or 3/4 tsp garlic powder)
  • 1 1/2 tbsp Worcestershire sauce
  • 1/2-1 tsp dried oregano (Italian seasoning as alternative)
  • 1/4-1/2 tsp red pepper flakes
  • 1/2 tsp cracked pepper
  • 1/2 tsp sea salt
  • 1 - 1 1/2 cups cooked rice
  • Shredded cheese for topping (optional)

Instructions

  1. Heat Olive Oil: Over medium-high heat, heat olive oil. Add onions and peppers, cook until softened.
  2. Cook Vegetables: Add garlic, cook for 1 minute. Push veggies aside, add ground turkey, and brown until cooked through.
  3. Combine Ingredients: Turn heat to low. Add tomato sauce, tomato paste, Worcestershire sauce, oregano, red pepper, salt, and pepper. Stir to combine.
  4. Add Rice: If using, stir in rice and adjust with more tomato sauce as needed. Adjust seasoning to taste.
  5. Serve: Garnish with parsley and shredded cheese, if desired.

Notes

  • Storage: Store in an airtight container for 3-4 days. Freeze for up to 3 months.
  • Substitute Meat: Ground beef or chicken can be used.
  • Skillet Size: Use a 10-12 inch skillet for best results.
