Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients

    • 3 oz. smoked salmon (the flaky type)
    • 4 oz. goat cheese
    • 8 oz. cream cheese
    • 1/2 lemon, juiced
    • 3 Tbsp. fresh dill
    • Salt and pepper, to taste

Pastry

    • 1 pkg puff pastry, thawed

Topping

  • 1 egg, beaten

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven: Preheat your oven to 400°F to get it ready for baking the puff pastry rounds.
  2. Prepare the puff pastry: Spread out each thawed puff pastry sheet on your work area. Using a cutter, cut 2″ circles from the sheets and place them onto a lined baking sheet. Brush each puff pastry round with beaten egg.
  3. Bake the puff pastry: Bake the puff pastry rounds in the preheated oven for 15-18 minutes, or until they turn golden brown. Remove them from the oven and set aside to cool completely.
  4. Make the salmon mixture: In a food processor, combine the goat cheese, cream cheese, smoked salmon, lemon juice, dill, and salt and pepper. Process the mixture until smooth. Spoon the mixture into a piping bag or a large zip-lock bag with the corner cut off.
  5. Pipe and garnish: Store the salmon mixture in the refrigerator until ready to serve. Then, pipe a heaping dollop of the salmon and goat cheese mixture on each puff pastry round. Garnish each bite with a tiny sprig of fresh dill.
  6. Serve immediately: Serve the prepared smoked salmon puff pastry bites immediately for the best taste and texture.

Notes

  • You can prepare the salmon mixture up to a day in advance and store it in the fridge until ready to use.
  • Make sure the puff pastry rounds are completely cooled before piping the salmon mixture to prevent it from melting.
  • The bites are best served immediately but can be assembled a couple of hours beforehand and kept refrigerated.
