Description

Spooky Boo-nana Popsicles are a fun and healthy Halloween treat made from fresh bananas coated in creamy Greek vanilla yogurt and decorated with dark chocolate chip eyes and mouths, frozen to perfection for a refreshing snack.

Ingredients

Scale

Fruits

  • 2 fresh bananas, not too ripe

Dairy

  • ½ cup Greek vanilla yogurt

Decorations

  • 24 mini dark chocolate chips (for eyes and mouths)

Other

  • 8 popsicle sticks

Instructions

  1. Prepare the bananas: Slice 2 bananas in half width-wise and then each half in half length-wise to create 8 individual banana pieces. Insert a popsicle stick into the bottom of each banana section to make it easier to hold.
  2. Freeze the banana pieces: Line a baking sheet with parchment paper and place the banana pops on it. Freeze them for at least 1 hour or up to 24 hours to make them firm.
  3. Dip in yogurt: Put the Greek vanilla yogurt into a bowl. Dip each frozen banana piece into the yogurt to coat it thoroughly.
  4. Decorate: While the yogurt coating is still fresh, place 3 mini dark chocolate chips on each banana to create ‘eyes’ and a ‘mouth’ to resemble a spooky ghost face.
  5. Freeze again: Place the decorated banana pops back on the parchment-lined sheet and freeze for about 1 hour to set the yogurt coating and chocolate decorations.
  6. Serve: Once fully frozen, remove the popsicles from the tray and enjoy your fun spooky boo-nana popsicles!

Notes

  • Use bananas that are ripe but still firm to hold shape when freezing and dipping.
  • The Greek vanilla yogurt coating adds creaminess and a sweet vanilla flavor that complements the banana perfectly.
  • Mini dark chocolate chips are ideal for decorating and creating expressive faces.
  • Store leftover popsicles in an airtight container in the freezer to maintain freshness.
  • For a dairy-free option, substitute Greek vanilla yogurt with coconut or almond-based yogurt.
