Ingredients

Units Scale

Main Ingredients

  • 1.5 lbs. Flank Steak
  • 1 lbs. frozen Medium waterfront BISTRO Shrimp Raw Peeled & Deveined Tail Off
  • 1 package Bens Original Jasmine Ready Rice Side Dish – 8.5 OZ
  • 1 tsp. olive oil for cooking
  • 1/3 cup (95g) Coconut Aminos
  • 1 Tbsp. Dijon Mustard
  • 1 package Stir-Fry Broccoli (12 oz.)
  • 3 green onions, chopped

Steak Marinade

  • 1/2 cup (140g) Coconut Aminos
  • 1 Tbsp. Toasted Sesame Oil
  • 1 tsp. ground ginger
  • 1 tsp. garlic powder
  • 1 lime, juiced

Instructions

  1. Slice the steak: Slice the flank steak into strips against the grain for tenderness and proper texture.
  2. Marinate the steak: Combine all the steak marinade ingredients (coconut aminos, sesame oil, lime juice, ginger, garlic) in a zip lock or resealable bag. Add the sliced steak, seal, and lay flat in the fridge to marinate for at least 4 hours. For best results, marinate in the morning for dinner preparation.
  3. Defrost shrimp: Remove frozen shrimp from the package and place them in a large bowl of warm (not hot) water to defrost. Replace the water once or twice, as needed, to fully defrost the shrimp.
  4. Cook the steak: Heat 1 tsp. of olive oil in a pan over medium-high heat. Once hot, add the marinated steak and sear on both sides, about 3 minutes per side. Ensure not to overcook. Remove the steak and set aside, keeping the juices in the pan.
  5. Cook the shrimp: Add the defrosted shrimp directly into the pan with the steak juices. Cook until the shrimp turn pink and are no longer translucent. Remove them from the pan and set aside with the steak.
  6. Prepare vegetables: In a microwave-safe bowl, combine the stir-fry broccoli with water (halfway full). Cook in the microwave for 3-5 minutes until vegetables are fork-tender but slightly al dente.
  7. Sauté vegetables and prepare sauce: Drain the water from the microwaved vegetables and transfer them to the same pan. Add 1/3 cup of coconut aminos and 1 Tbsp. Dijon mustard to the vegetables. Simmer to blend the flavors.
  8. Cook the rice: Microwave the jasmine-ready rice according to package instructions.
  9. Combine and finalize: Add the cooked rice to the pan with vegetables, mixing everything together thoroughly. Reintroduce the shrimp and steak, and mix again to ensure everything is evenly coated and heated. Sprinkle chopped green onions on top and mix one final time to combine.
  10. Serve and garnish: Serve immediately. Top your steak and shrimp stir fry with sesame seeds, additional green onions, red chili pepper flakes, or Dijon mustard as desired.

Notes

  • There will be excess sauce in the pan; this is intended to ensure everything is well coated.
  • Nutritional information is an estimate and may vary with ingredient substitutions.
  • Always use raw shrimp instead of pre-cooked shrimp to prevent them from becoming tough.
