Ingredients

Strawberries:

  • 4 strawberries

Shortcake:

  • 6 teaspoons sugar, divided
  • 1 tablespoon unsalted butter
  • 5 tablespoons all-purpose flour

  • 1/4 cup milk
  • 1/4 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • pinch salt

Whipped Cream:

  • Whipped cream (see note)

Instructions

  1. Prepare Strawberries: Quarter or chunk the strawberries and toss with 2 teaspoons of sugar. Set aside to macerate.
  2. Microwave Butter: Melt butter in a large microwave-safe mug.
  3. Mix Batter: Add remaining ingredients to the mug and stir until smooth.
  4. Microwave: Cook the cake in the microwave until set.
  5. Assemble: Top the cake with whipped cream and macerated strawberries.
